Bench pressing thirteen Lockheed C-130 Hercules Aircraft

That’s right we are attempting to Bench Press the equivalent weight of 13 military aircrafts in one day, the combined weight of this is an immense 447,200KG. The rules are simple, we have 6 team members who are attempting to lift this combined weight over the day, each rep will weigh 50Kg. Each team member will complete 10reps with full motion of bar to chest and fully extend the arms and back. When they have finished, another team member will take over until all 6 had a go, and start all over again. This should take approximately 1 minute 40 seconds for a full team rotation and will last close to 5 hours to complete the challenge with a total of 8,944 reps between 6 team members. That’s just under 1,500 reps each…just let that sink in a minute!

But it wouldn’t be right if the team did this alone.

We have a formidable opponent to push us to the end in this Mammoth test of strength and mental fortitude – The Elite II Squadron RAF Regiment Parachute Ready Field Squadron. They will also be preparing themselves for this enormous Challenge.

Why are we taking on this near impossible attempt? We are doing this to raise awareness towards One Great Day – a charity fundraising initiative taking place in shopping centres across the UK in the month of June. We are raising money for two amazing charities, 50% of all monies raised going to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and 50% to our local group, Willow Foundation.

It will be an amazing achievement for either team to complete this near impossible challenge, but with such a great cause in mind, we are inspired and motivated to make a vision turn in to reality. With less than 8 weeks away, all team members are hard at work, training their bodies to reach this colossal goal in aid of One Great Day.
