Thomas Cook in the Howard Centre has not suffered closure despite bosses at Thomas Cook saying it would be closing 200 stores over the next two years. The branch in the Howard Centre will survive as a Thomas Cook spokeswoman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times that the store in the centre is not one of the 150 that have been announced.

First Choice

First Choice in the Howard Centre has re-opened under a new name and new look. Thomson featuring First Choice, formerly just First Choice, unveiled its revamp recently. The shop has been transformed and repainted into Thomson's signature blue and red colours, reflecting the company's merger with First Choice in 2007. Branch manager Nicola West said "The shop looks and feels much nicer, nothing's changed in the way we run things and you'll still see the same faces, but if you want to come in and have a look around and see what we have on offer you are more than welcome".
